You are using an out of date browser. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Oct 31, 14, EDIT: Okay so all of my updates are working normally. I was able to download a demo just fine. The problem is Final Fantasy XV. I uninstalled it because it's GB. I decided to re-install it.

Upon installation it tells me that it's downloading Patch 1. It gets stuck in "preparing to download" for a LONG time, and then it downloads super slowly. I put it on Rest Mode and it doesn't download at all in Rest Mode, and in fact it begins "preparing to download" all over again! Pls help. Oct 25, 28, I empathize, especially since I have a launch model with the older, crappy wifi radio. That said, yours sounds faulty.

Oct 29, Try a speed test on the PS4 browser, something like fast. If you also get bad speeds on those tests then you need to look into your network, even possibly but doubtfully a faulty PS4 network card.

I'm assuming you are Wired, if not It sucks but I all boils down to your location rather than your internet speeds. I hope this shit is improved next gen, but I am not holding my breath.

Boards PlayStation 4 Sudden drop in download speeds User Info: Skozi. User Info: PsychoWolfX. I've noticed this too since the last update. My internet has always been very slow, but I've still been able to manage a about 1 GB a hour. Today I came home, noticed Battlefield has a 7GB update and the estimated time is 16 hours. I've had this garbage internet since I moved into my house and before that it was nothing but dial up, so I can tolerate waiting for a few days for a game to downoad, but it seems like my PS4's pathetic speed has been cut in half.

PS4 is very popular with many game users and it is one of the top-selling consoles. The big problem is the slow download on PlayStation 4 no matter the Internet connection speed is fast or slow. According to users, it may take as little as 20 minutes to download a huge game on PC but take hours to download on the PS4.

This is mainly because there is a flaw in how the console communicates with the PlayStation Network. In one, the game Styx: Shards of Darkness idled in its title screen.

That shrank the receive window to 7 KB. Snellman stresses this the artificial limit "appears to only apply to PSN downloads" — i. And, notably, running the console's built-in speed test will not reveal the reduced download capacity. For me, this is one of the most maddening things, to see a download is taking forever, to check what is wrong with my network connection and be told everything is A-OK.

A receive window of 7 KB "is an incredibly low value; it's basically going to cause the downloads to take times longer than they should," Snellman explains.

Running an app such as Netflix or Spotify narrowed the receive window to KB, which is still "a 5x reduction in potential download speed," and playing an online match in a networked game closed it down to the 7 KB threshold. Putting the PlayStation 4 into its rest mode "had no effect," he writes.

Complicating matters is that the PlayStation 4 doesn't always make it clear what programs are running. Many users are accustomed to closing a game from the dashboard or being told the system is doing so when they boot up a new one while another is in the background, thinking that takes care of it. But other applications, like Spotify or a streaming video service, can keep on going.
